How to Find a Sport That’s Right for You

All for sports No Comments »

Steps

  1. 1
First of all, you may have to know which sport is suitable and good for you and your health.

  2. 2
Call your city's recreation department to find out the sporting options in your area.
  3. 3
Decide how much time you have to try out a sport. If you are a busy person, try one you can find time for in your full schedule, so you don't have to drop or miss your other activities.
  4. 4
Pick a time that is convenient for you to sign up.
  5. 5
Decide if you want to spend money to buy equipment or participate.
  6. 6
Look up the rules of the sport online. Especially if it's a team sport, knowing the rules is essential.
  7. 7
Show up for the first day. There is usually a coach around, so look for that person and ask him to show you a few tricks. Feel free to ask them about anything (like terms, rules and such) you don't know about.
  8. 8
See how you feel the next day, physically and emotionally. A sport should, above all, make you feel relaxed and full of energy. Don't worry if you got muscle cramps; they're normal when you haven't practiced any sports recently, because your muscles are no longer used to making effort.
  9. 9
Go back again if you had a good time.
  10. 10
Try other sports that allow you to explore being alone or on a team.
  11. 11
Surf a sports site online to learn more about the sport you are interested in.
  12. 12
Keep at it once you find a sport that you love. Start practicing it on a regular basis.

Steps

  1. 1
Are you social? Do you have many friends? Or people even ask to be your friend. Some people think " I'm the one with all the friends so i'm SO popular. I order to be popular you have to have many friends so they'll back you up. You could also sign up on some internet places in the following:
    • Twitter
    • Google
    • MySpace
    • Bebo
    • Formspring
    • Friendproject
    • AOL
    • Lifestream
    • Meebo
    • AIM
    • Skype
    • Facebook
    • Instagram
    • Tumblr
    • VYOU
    • or you could look up some chat rooms if you don't like any of these ideas.

  2. 2
Are you kind? Many people don't think about this one. Being popular doesn't mean being mean or being rude. Many people want to be respected. So if you want to know if your popular, you need to know if your kind. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
  3. 3
Do you have what's in style? If you don't well…. HOW ARE YOU POPULAR?!?!?!?! You need to make sure you have what's in style or you aren't popular. Make sure you have enough money to go shopping at least once a month. You don't need to go shopping so much in order to be popular. That will just make you a snob. Nobody likes snobs.
  4. 4
Do you compare yourself to others? You don't want to be a wannabe. You don't to level yourself to others or copy someone else. If you do compare yourself to others, I suggest that you need to START ACTING LIKE YOURSELF Your not focusing on the wannabe part to get there. Your focusing on the gonna-be part to get there.
  5. 5
Do you have CONFIDENCE? This is the #1 question. If you don't have confidence in yourself then this will NOT WORK. You need to step out of your comfort zone and be that out-going self deep down inside you. I'M NOT SAYING CHANGE YOUR PERSONALITY! I'm just saying show what's deep down inside you if you truly want this to work.
  6. 6
Do you have a boyfriend? Really this is optional. I suggest that you go to "How to get a Boyfriend" if you want more tips on this one.
  7. 7
Are you pretty? You know being pretty isn't just on the outside, it's on the inside to. To be pretty on the inside you have to be kind, sweet, and caring. To be pretty on the outside you can go take manicures and pedicures. You could also put on some makeup, but remember less is more.
  8. 8
Are you Popular? Now is the time. You can look up Am I Popular quizzes in order to find out. I use Quibblo quizzes because i can see the comments after I've taken the test to see if people agree that the quiz was good.

How to Refresh Your Teenage Life when Everything Goes Wrong

Phychology of a teenager. No Comments »

Steps

  1. 1
Take some paper and list the things that you feel are going wrong. Examples could be that you bite your nails, aren't satisfied with your grades, feel like you're always running short on money, to name a few examples. If you'd like, try to imagine what is to you the perfect person and list the things that person "has" that you don't, like playing a sport or knowing how to play chess

  2. 2
Take another piece of paper and divide those "wrong" things into categories. Like "health" if you think you eat too much junk food or don't exercise enough. Other good categories are grooming, finances, relationships, education, organization, etc. Add as many as you'd need to.
  3. 3
Under each category, write the things you should do to revert those mistakes. Examples include: reunite with a friend you fought with, tidy up bedroom, study more and do homework. You can look at the Tips to get ideas.
  4. 4
Each of those things will be a goal to you. Try to break them down into easy steps. For instance, if you'd like to speak French, watch one movie or episode a week in French. Search online if you need help breaking down goals, such as WikiHow!
  5. 5
Tackle those goals. Now that you know what you need to do, start doing it! Ease into this by adding a new habit into your life at a time.
  6. 6
Jump in delight as you see yourself turn into the perfect person!

How to Overcome Loneliness As an Only Child

Phychology of a teenager. No Comments »

Steps

  1. 1
Realise that a lot of geniuses in science, music, art, and literature were single children, so you have a good chance of being great in life. You may not always relish in the alone time, but it gives you time to develop your own skills and practice them without interruption.

  2. 2
Talk and spend time with someone who has lots of annoying siblings to realize how lucky you are having the sole attention of your guardian/parent/s.
  3. 3
Have a sleepover/playdate with a friend who has siblings and realise how much easier it is to have your own space. Siblings can be very messy!
  4. 4
Keep in mind this. Most families in China only have one child. China has a 1.4 billion population, so you are certainly not alone in being a single child!
  5. 5
See that there are positives and negatives to being an only child, so it may appear that having siblings is better than it actually is...the grass is always greener on the other side. A lot of kids with siblings wish they were only children.
  6. 6
Everyone gets lonely at times, so talk to someone and let them know. If you find it hard to do that, then write in a diary, say it out loud, and just get it out of your system.
  7. 7
Don't give yourself a chance to feel lonely. Join a sports team, or if you don't like sports, find a good group hobby or club. If you really want to, make your own club! Try to make friends along the way.
  8. 8
Don't feel bad about being an only child. The way you look at it determines how you see yourself in the world. Its not a negative thing.
  9. 9
When/if you have friends, try to interact with them. They are your friends, after all! You can shop with them or go for movies.
  10. 10
If you have some problems with communicating(shyness, etc) don't worry! There are also a lot of other ways to entertain yourself. You can party by yourself, act imaginary roles, listen to music or read books, or find a hobby.
  11. 11
Own a pet. Pets can be fun, and can keep you from getting lonely. If you aren't allowed to have a pet, but love animals, try to see if you could work with them at an animal shelter.
  12. 12
For some people, a good thing to do is to create an imaginary friend/brother or sis, whom with you can shape their personality, and share things with.
  13. 13
Try to do some work. This will help everybody, and will also prevent you from feeling lonely.

How to Make Fitness a Daily Routine

All for sports, Phychology of a teenager. No Comments »

Steps

  1. 1
Designate a specific time for fitness. You can adhere to a routine if you set aside specific daily times for exercise. Without a scheduled timeframe, you may be more likely to stray from your daily fitness commitment.
    • Choose a time that compliments your daily schedule. For example, if you join a gym located near your place of work, you can exercise early in the morning before you go to work, or in the afternoons or evenings following your work shift.
    • Give yourself at least 20 minutes per day for fitness and exercise. Although the time you spend on fitness and exercise may vary depending on the activities you perform, at least 20 minutes of vigorous exercise (such as running, swimming, or basketball) is required for an optimal workout.

  2. 2
Set fitness goals. In most cases, goals will force you to establish a routine in order to meet those goals. For example, if your goal is to lose a certain amount of weight within a specific timeframe, you will more than likely have to exercise consistently on a daily basis to meet your weight goal.
    • Consult with a certified fitness trainer or expert to help you set realistic fitness goals if you are unsure of the timeframe in which you can achieve your goals.
  3. 3
Choose a fitness activity you enjoy. You will be more likely to establish and adhere to a daily routine if you genuinely enjoy the activity you are performing. For example, if you enjoy playing a specific sport, join a team or league for that sport in your neighborhood or at a gym.
  4. 4
Perform short, less intense exercises in the beginning. If your routine is too strenuous or intense up front, you may dread exercising; however, if you feel comfortable and satisfied with your initial exercise routine, it may increase the likelihood of fitness becoming a permanent daily routine.
    • Walk up and down flights of stairs instead of taking elevators or escalators, and park your automobile in the farthest spot away from your destination to increase your daily activity in the beginning.
    • Work your way slowly up to your exercise goals. For example, if you want to make running part of your daily fitness routine, start out by walking at a brisk pace until your body feels comfortable and ready for jogging or running.
  5. 5
Prepare your fitness equipment in advance. This will allow you to attend your workout without taking the extra time to prepare or pack your equipment, which can be helpful if your daily schedule is extremely busy.
    • Pack your gym bag for the following day on a nightly basis, or keep your fitness equipment in your car or in a locker at the gym.
  6. 6
Take breaks as needed. If you exercise on a daily basis even on days when you are especially tired or sore, you may become resentful of your fitness routine and lose the motivation to work out.
    • Allow your body to rest and recover 1 or 2 days per week. If you feel guilty about missing a workout, or want to maintain a routine even when you are tired, perform a milder activity such as housework or strolling around your neighborhood.

How to Be a Good Athlete

Phychology of a teenager. No Comments »

Steps

  1. 1
Practice, Practice, Practice! Try to practice your sport(s) for an hour a day. Play with family and friends for more fun. Find ways to improve. For example, if you play volleyball, see how many good serves you can serve in one minute.
    • Remember that practice makes close to perfect. Not always perfect. People use this saying all the time, and guess what. They are wrong. Nothing is perfect, but there is doing anything and everything to the best of your abilities. If you practice, however, you will get better.

  2. 2
Have all of the proper equipment needed for each sport or hobby. Not having the correct gear can lead to injury. So please, stay safe. Sure, wearing a helmet while biking may not be the coolest thing in the world, but hey, all of the professionals do, right?
  3. 3
Don't let any obstacle stand in your way of reaching your goals. Anyone who says you can't is only jealous of how hard you are able to work and then succeed. They wish that they could be successful, too.

How to Have a Life on a Busy Schedule (for the Teenager)

Phychology of a teenager. No Comments »

Steps

  1. 1
Make sure you love what you do. This means make sure everything you're doing is worth it. Not loving orchestra practice or gymnastics? Ask your parents/guardian if you can drop it. Do not say, "I just don't like it." Give them an adequate reason to let you drop the activity. Say something like, "I really don't want to do this activity because…"

  2. 2
Hard times pass. If your science teacher is hitting you hard with homework and projects, sooner or later it will pass. Sure, you may need to skip some flute lessons or swim practices to get it done, but don't drop something just because you're hitting a bump.
  3. 3
Make sure you have "me" time. Have a little time in the day, even if it's just 20 minutes, to do something you want. Paint your nails, play video games, or just chill.
  4. 4
Have fun with friends. Every once in a while, hang out with your friends, even if it means skipping a practice for something. Your friends are a big part of your life, and they need to be included. So go ahead, plan that movie night on Friday!
  5. 5
Don't put activities and sports before school. If you're failing papers and tests, ask yourself if you could cut out an activity. Nothing should ever come before school. Do all your homework during lunch and directly after school, so you don't have assignments bogging you down after a long day.
  6. 6
Enjoy the time you do have. Don't sit around during your free time going, "Dang, I have soccer practice in half an hour." Enjoy that free time doing something you want.
  7. 7
Don't push yourself over the edge. If you have a serious injury, let it heal for your sake and others. Do you really want to end up in the hospital after doing five back handsprings on a twisted wrist?
