If you use a desktop computer, you probably know already that there is no specific part called "computer". The computer is actually a system of many parts working together. The physical parts, which you can see and touch, are called general material. (The software, on the other hand, refers to instructions or programs that tell the hardware what to do.)
The following figure shows the most common hardware parts of a desktop computer system. Your system may vary, but probably includes most of these places. A laptop computer has similar parts but combines them into one compact package.
